Super excited….. I got a place in the London Marathon 2025! I am strangely over the moon about getting a place but also slightly nervous as I was originally supposed to run the London Marathon in 2011…… But… I ended up with a really bad stress fracture and had to pull out… However, I did manage to complete it in 2012… London Olympic Year…
Back to this year…….. A few days before I received the awesome news that I got a place into the London Marathon; I received a call from a friend sharing some really sad news that the wonderful, loving and caring Garry Cruikshank had died. I was absolutely devastated and the news shocked my world. Garry introduced me to the world of running after meeting him in a slightly drunken state at a charity event called West End Eurovision for Make A Difference Trust (MAD)…. also known at TheatreMAD. Garry was so passionate about the charity and life in general and tried to encourage me to get involved with the charity which was for people living with HIV, Aids and other illness within the theatre industry… If you know me… you would know that I love to sing…. unfortunately, I cannot sing in tune but that does not stop me from giving it ago…, I cannot dance to save my life; neither can I act… so I had to say to him that I couldn’t help out as I cannot sing, dance or act… Fear not… for there was soon to be a running team in the Royal Parks Half Marathon…. and off I started my running journey….
Over the last week, I was debating whether to run for the Terrance Higgins Trust having a close link to my original running charity or running for the Charlie Kristensen Foundation…. https://cheerupcharlie.co.uk/foundation/
Today I have decided that I will run for the Charlie Kristensen Foundation….. More information to follow over the next coming days…. about the fabulous work Charlie is doing across the UK. Charlie is a remarkable young boy who is only 13 years of age and probably does not realise the positive impact he has already made on so many people.
Today was my second ran/walk/run….. I would just like to say I look redder than Jorge as he abandoned me after the 5th interval run and started to head home!! He does keep pointing out though that the difference between him and me… is that I AM the one that is running the marathon and he is not!!
