Sunday 5th January 2025:- Long Run 70 minutes.

The information for today’s run says:- ‘ Now the fun begins! As we have worked our way up to 60 minutes of continuous running, we will now be gradually building up the time of our longs runs as we get further into marathon training.’

I have spent most of the day avoiding going out for a run as it is cold and slippery outside. I am seeing people post in the marathon group chats.. it is cold outside, be careful it is really really slippery. I really do not want to go out in the cold but I know I will regret it if I do not lace up my shoes and go for my run. I opt for running on the treadmill but I am thinking boy oh boy 70 minutes of running and not getting anywhere how on earth am I going to cope. Fear not for a shall download something to watch on the iPad.

I was going to head to the gym but nope…. I giggle to myself as I have decided to use the treadmill in the gym on my street. I am like seriously Louise, you could have done this hours ago but hey at least I am finally doing it!

I am supposed to run 6 miles during this 70 minute run but I am not able to run at the speed they are expecting me to run for this length of time!! Half of me thinks…. do I run the amount of miles or time… naturally I opt for just running the 70 minutes.

Just towards the end of the run…. Paradise comes on…. I love my playlist as it is very random and I will throw in songs which I know will make me giggle. This one did as Paradise….. I don’t think so you have got to be kidding me.. I am running in a tiny gym space with no ventilation and I am not glowing… I am sweating like a pig! But at least I am able to try my new hydration vest!!

70 minutes later and boom……. I have managed to run 5.23 miles….

WAHOO…. I Did It!!
